Environmentally friendly hotel
We are committed to conserving our environment
Here is what we are doing:
OVERALL HOTEL
- One fourth of Santa Clara Marriott’s energy comes from clean WindMill Power
- Santa Clara Marriott is Energy Star Certified meaning that electronic equipment used throughout the hotel conserves energy
- Office paper, plastic and glass is recycled
- Motion Sensor and Timed Light switches are used in all offices and storage rooms to reduce energy use
- Cleaning Chemicals are ordered in re-usable bulk plastic containers reducing packaging waste
- All Hotel Vending Machines utilize motion sensors to reduce energy consumption
- All landscaping is irrigated with “gray water” from laundry and roof drains
- Use of Ground Cover is maximized in order to reduce use of grass, thereby reducing water usage
- Majority of light bulbs have been replaced with energy conserving florescent lighting
- Light reflective coating is used on roofs to reduce heat/Sunscreen film is used on windows
- Sensors and water conserving faucets are used in all public restrooms
- Water conserving 1.6gpf toilets are used throughout the property
- Santa Clara Marriott maintains an active ECHO/Energy Committee that meets on monthly basis
- Only re-usable cups are used throughout the property/employee cafeteria
- The entire hotel uses only post-consumer paper
- StarBucks bar uses recyclable cups made from post consumer paper
- Santa Clara Marriott requires our guest and employee laundry contractor to utilize bio-degradable plastic bags
- Santa Clara Marriott’s Parcel 104 Restaurant purchases its produce only from organic growers
GUEST ROOMS
- Energy Saving Compact Florescent lights are used in all guest rooms
- Water saving shower-heads are used in all guest rooms
- Water conserving 1.6gpf toilets have been installed in all guest rooms
- Guests are encouraged to re-use towels, thus reducing the use of hot water and detergent
MEETING SPACE
- Re-Usable, thermal lunch boxes are used instead of plastic
- Purified Water stations are standard in foyer areas
- Florescent lighting is used throughout the meeting areas reducing energy consumption
- Partnering with leading Silicon Valley
- Companies such as HP to produce green events
- “Turn off the Lights” program is enforced for associates requiring that lights in meeting spaces are turned off when not in use
- Hosting events that promote “Green” awareness to the rest of the company: “The Power of Green”, “Back to Earth” event
